Club Night – NIPA Round 3

Some of the colour prints on display

Last week saw our prints being judged for Round 3 of the NIPA Interclubs Competition. With a judge organised for our usual Thursday evening meeting we were told at the very last minute that our usual venue would be closing early and would therefore be unavailable at that time. Unable to find anywhere else at such short notice our competition round was rescheduled for Saturday morning. Unfortunately this wasn’t suitable for our judge and unable to get another one at short notice we continued anyway and judged this round ourselves.

The thinking was that we honestly didn’t think there would be many entries given the round theme of ‘Textures’ so we could judge it ourselves. Boy were we wrong. Our members produced a large array of prints varying from food right up to reptile skin. Each member was allowed to judge and they had to select their top five prints in each category: colour and B&W. From these the top 4 from each category was put through to the NIPA round.

To be honest it was a hard one to judge given the number of excellent prints on display.
